Therapy, counselling, coaching and mentoring near Exeter
People come for support for many different reasons. Some are dealing with anxiety, grief, low mood, relationship difficulties, trauma or stress. Others feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure which direction to take next.
I offer therapy, counselling, coaching and mentoring from a quiet farm near Topsham, just outside Exeter. Sessions are available face to face, online, by telephone, or as walk-and-talk sessions in the adjoining fields.
Support when life feels difficult to manage alone
Therapy and counselling can help when your thoughts, emotions or circumstances feel hard to carry on your own.
You may be facing a recent event, an old pattern, a relationship difficulty, or a period of change that has left you feeling unsettled. You may know exactly what you want to talk about, or you may only know that something does not feel right.
The work gives you space to speak honestly, understand what is happening, and begin to find a steadier way through.
I loved how we were given the option to roam the fields and talk, which I felt was very therapeutic. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Gavin.

Coaching and mentoring
Coaching and mentoring may be useful when you are not looking for therapy in the traditional sense, but want support with direction, decision-making, confidence, communication or change.
This work can help you step back, look at your situation more clearly, and think through what matters now.
Areas we may explore are listed here
The work is thoughtful and practical. It is not about being pushed towards someone else’s idea of success. It is about finding a clearer and more honest way forward for you.
Approaches I may draw from
I am not bound by one single therapeutic model. Different people need different kinds of support, and the work is shaped around the person in front of me.
Depending on what you bring to sessions, I may draw from a range of approaches.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy can help you notice thoughts, emotions and patterns with more awareness. It can support a different relationship with worry, fear, low mood and difficult internal experiences.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy looks at the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It can help you recognise unhelpful patterns and explore different ways of responding.
Transactional Analysis
Transactional Analysis can help make sense of communication, conflict and relationship patterns. It looks at how we relate to ourselves and others, especially when old protective patterns are triggered.
Applied Buddhist Psychology
Applied Buddhist Psychology explores themes such as suffering, attachment, dependency, patience, anger and change. This is offered in a grounded, practical way and does not require any religious belief.
Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems works with the idea that different parts of us may hold different needs, fears and protective roles. It can help give voice to parts of ourselves that may have been pushed aside or silenced.
Coaching and mentoring approaches
For coaching and mentoring, sessions may include values work, mindset exploration, life direction, communication, confidence, work-life balance and practical reflection around change.
How sessions work
Sessions can take place in person near Topsham, online, by telephone, or outside as walk-and-talk sessions where appropriate.
Some people prefer the privacy and steadiness of a therapy room. Others find it easier to talk while walking in the adjoining fields. We can discuss what feels suitable during your initial consultation.

Not sure where to begin?
You do not need to have the right words before you get in touch. Many people begin with a simple sense that they need to talk.
A free initial consultation gives us time to discuss what you are looking for and whether I may be the right person to support you.
